I apologize for the lack of posts lately but hope this one will get us back on track.
We're are getting back into the swing of things since our return from Spring Break. We are continuing our fable unit. This week we focused on the fable, The Crow and the Pitcher. Students identified adjectives to describe the character and also retold the story to include the beginning, middle and end. This was also a great story to reinforce April's word of the month - perseverance. At our Wednesday Morning Meeting we were treated to a kick off for Run For the Arts. Information letters and sponsor sheets came home this week. The children are already very excited to lace up their running shoes and get moving! In math we are using story problems to reinforce addition and subtraction strategies that include make 10, Add 10, Add 9, Doubles and Doubles +1. Students are also using an open number line to solve double digit equations. I am very impressed with how quickly they have grasped using this helpful model. Our most exciting news is that we welcomed a new student on Friday! We were so happy to meet Landen and everyone has been so helpful showing him the ropes in Room 108!
