I have to begin with a heartfelt thank you for all the love during Teacher Appreciation Week. The meals, snacks, coffee, school supplies and gift cards were overwhelming in their generosity. My favorites though were the hand written cards from students and their families. I am humbled by your kind words and grateful for your support. I really do love coming to work each day to learn, explore and laugh with 29 unique children! Last week was fun-filled. We had a great time on our fieldtrip. Everyone enjoyed the version of Robin Hood the performers presented and we compared the play with the two different versions that we had read in class. The Annual Art Show was Thursday night. It was so fun to see all of the projects from the year in one place. I will send home the student work on the next dry day! Friday was Run for the Arts. We got a bit wet but that didn't dampen our enthusiasm! Pledge sheets were sent home on Friday and are due back with the money collected on 19th. This week we will be back to our usual routine. I will be starting to sprinkle in various assessments over the next few weeks. I'm hoping that if I can do a little at a time we will be able to keep things as "normal" as possible. In math we continue our geometry unit which will also integrate work with fractions. Towards the end of the week we will start our farm unit. This is a combination math/writing/social studies unit that will include a fieldtrip to a working farm at the end of May. More information will be sent home soon! Investigation question: Can we move grains of salt using our voices? Exploring sound waves with handmade kazoos.
