We are building our stamina for reading quietly to ourselves. We also are now choose a comfortable spot to read. Imagine 20+ first graders laying on the carpet immersed in their books! We also learned a few new reading responses including Creating a List and Labeled Diagram. In math students are using white boards to solve bug story problems. Next week they will be creating their own story problems for their classmates to solve. Our Number Corner calendar grid involves looking at different models for recording numbers including tally marks, manipulatives (popsicle sticks) and double ten frames. We are charting our data daily to uncover various patterns. We had our first full week of specials with music, P.E., guidance and library. Next week will be our first art session with Mrs. Brown.
