What a week! Please accept my heartfelt thanks for the fantastic week. The treats, lunch, fruit basket, gift cards and beautiful flowers were just wonderful. My favorites were the handwritten notes and cards from my most favorite first graders! What a lucky teacher to get to spend my days with such kind and thoughtful children. Thank you!
A permission slip came home last week for your child to participate in a classroom conversation about our new reading adoption this year. I will be leading the the discussion with the students asking them a few questions about their learning experiences this year. There will be a couple of researchers taking notes on our conversation. Participation is voluntary and students without permission slips will remain in the classroom working on an activity at their desks. In case you have misplaced the permission slip I will send copies home again. Our fifteen minute discussion will take place on Thursday, May 17 at 11:00. Glencoe's first STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Night is this Friday. Student art from both Art Infusion and the classroom will be on display. There will also be science projects on display and science and math activities for everyone to enjoy. Hope to see you there! This past week students learned a bit about the artist Paul Klee. Inspired by his artwork, Cat and Bird students created their own piece using a combination of oil pastels and collage. I'll post a few photos of the artists at work. Their artwork is beautiful!
