This past week we continued building upon the skills from last week. In reading we are focusing on learning as much about the important characters in our stories. This helps in understanding what we are reading. We also talked about how to decide if a detail is important and helps to move the story along.
In writing we began writing book reviews as part of our opinion unit. Students select a book they would recommend and state their opinion along with reasons to support their feelings. I love how this connects with the work we are doing in reading as well! In math we worked with 3D shapes more where students looked at the net (the pattern that you can cut and fold to make a model of a solid shape) and predict whether it will create the given 3D shape. Students then use polydrons to create the net and determine if their prediction was correct. You should have received communication from the district that the last day of school has been adjusted to Wednesday, June 12.
