In math this week we continued to explore composite shapes and 3D shapes. We went on a walk around the school searching for 3D shapes and students brought home a sheet to try it at home as well. We found that rectangular prisms and cylinders were easiest to find and wonder if it will be similar at home!
In reading we are focusing our comprehension work around getting to know the characters in our stories. We will continue with this focus this week as well. Students are also practicing to retell their stories to their reading partners. I am impressed how thoughtful they are when working together. In writing students are finishing up their restaurant/toys/games/movie reviews and will begin to work on book reviews next. We focused on using a catchy introduction such as starting with a question to make your reader wonder. Students also worked with their partners to revise and edit one of their reviews. A highlight this week was our latest Art Infusion session. Students created pieces inspired by the work of Georgia O'keefe. The artwork is amazing! Be sure to stop by in the hallway to check it out.
